Summary:
Packaging Technicians are responsible for packaging and monitoring products, labels, lot codes, and packaging to ensure Sergeant s product standards are being met.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, amounts, dimensions, and flow of materials or ingredients.
Perform quality audits and perform general sanitation and housekeeping duties on the machinery.
Examine, measure, and weight materials or products to verify conformance to standards, using measuring devices such as templates, micrometers, or scales.
Review data sheets, BOM, specifications, or instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, components, settings, and adjustments for packaging of product.
Record and maintain packaging data such as meter readings, and quantities, types of materials produced.
Complete work within safety and plant guidelines and ensure all paperwork is accurate, clear, and concise.
Responsible for housekeeping of machine and plant area. Includes sweeping the floor around the packaging machine area, removing the trash, cleaning the machine at the end of the shift and preparing for next day s/shift s production.
Required Experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Two years experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Computer/PLC experience helpful.
Basic knowledge of hand tools is essential.
Mechanical aptitude and ability is required.
Capacity to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; must be able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers using written and spoken English.
Ability to work safely and adhere to safety guidelines in a manufacturing environment.
Must have dependable and reliable transportation.
Must have a good eye for detail.
Meeting and maintaining production standards is required.
Ability to add and subtract four digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10''s and 100''s. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to convert measurements, lengths, and weights from US/imperial to metric and the reverse.
Qualified candidates must pass a pre-employment criminal background screen and drug test.
Identify and resolves problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully.
Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and constantly look for ways to improve and promote quality;
Must monitor work to ensure quality.
Ability to meet productivity standards; complete work in timely manner and strive to increase productivity continuously is required.
