Position Summary
The primary purpose of the Print Department Team Leader is to ensure quality, safe and cost efficient operations, team development and print department housekeeping standards.
Duties and Responsibilities

1. Plan and meet production, safety and quality goals through efficient production processes:
Hold team members accountable for adhering to quality and safety standards.
Ensure job approval quality checks on all presses and all jobs each day are taking place.
Review the daily press report and end of shift communications looking for trends and unusual items. Work with shift team leaders to implement changes for improvement as warranted.
Participate in Lean Manufacturing efforts and hold team members accountable for implementing lean processes.
2. Exhibit sound leadership consistent with our culture:
Provide necessary training and mentoring to direct reports in order to prepare them for future advancement and assignments.
Train and mentor team members to value and respect one another.
Hold shift team lead meetings with direct reports on a monthly basis with a consistent agenda and noted action steps.
Hold 1-on-1 meetings with all direct reports on a bi-weekly basis to identify issues, communicate expectations and remove obstacles.
3. Uphold a genuine regard for safety by ensuring that team members understand and follow safety guidelines:
Ensure shift team leaders react immediately to perceived safety violations or issues. Issue safety citations and corrective actions as warranted.
Ensure shift team leaders enforce utilization of safety mechanisms and maintain them in good working order.
Discuss any accidents which have occurred in the print shop during shift team lead meetings and the action steps to be taken.
4. Track and communicate necessary information to team members regarding production and quality targets, achievements, etc.
Communicate information visibly via scoreboards.
Ensure shift team leaders use shift huddles to communicate information verbally.
5. Work in collaboration with other departments to meet their needs and answer questions regarding printing operations:
Ensure shift team leaders and pre/post production coordinator participate in press approvals that occur on assigned shift with customer service and sales.
Provide scheduling and preproduction team with any information needed to efficiently produce printed products.
Work with quality and continuous process improvement team members to resolve print issues and prevent problems in the future.
6. Participate in the budgeting process:
Participate in the annual budgeting process and be prepared to justify expenditure requests.
Track budget variances and identify steps to improve, as needed.
Review capacity reports based on sales forecast and determine staffing needs.
7. Ensure new technical advances in printing are researched and implemented as warranted.
Stay abreast of technical advances in printing through trade journal research, trade shows, printing associations, vendor relations and networking.
Research new technologies for feasibility in Robbie print operations.
8. Handle administrative duties as needed:
Review and approve time and attendance records.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills, experiences and qualifications that are essential to the job.
The ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without an accommodation.
Minimum of 8 years wide web flexographic printing experience.
Minimum of 5 years CMYK graphics reproduction.
Solid leadership acumen.
Time management ability to balance important short and long-term goals with daily commitments.
Excellent listening skills with demonstrated ability to make others feel like they have been heard.
Exceptional internal collaboration skills.
Ability to hold others accountable.

Authority to make decisions as needed to satisfy customer requirements within reasonable boundaries.
Disciplinary decisions up to termination.
Addition of staff outside budgetary guidelines
Termination decisions should be discussed with the Director of Human Resources.
Spending decisions outside established budgetary guidelines.
Working Conditions
Must be flexible to be at the plant whenever needed, including nights and early mornings.
Inks and solvents create strong fumes in the plant.
The following physical requirements are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:
Frequent standing and walking during working hours.
Frequent sitting, bending, and stooping.
May require extended periods of time working on the computer.
Will pay relocation.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
