Position Summary
It is the responsibility of this position to ensure that the ordering, inspection, care and maintenance of plate/proof inventory meets the quality expectations for mounting and printing. This position also maintains inventory of all print sleeves and bridge mandrels. Leads the Pre-Production meetings and maintains the production side of the pre-production system. The Pre-production coordinator manages the accuracy of our color space (print to proof match) and ensures all first-time jobs are executed as expected.
Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides plates to the mounting department and maintains proper processes for the ordering and inspection of plates
2. Maintains proof files to ensure current design is available, at press prior to production, and returned to storage after completion.
3. Coordinates with scheduling and print department plate/sleeve availability and identifies potential conflicts before the jobs go to press
4. Leads daily Pre-Production meetings and ensures all specification and recipes are in place prior to production.
5. Provides training and development to plate room positions
6. Maintains quantity and quality of mounting supplies in accordance with production specifications
7. Coordinates with external vendors and internal parties on manufacturing changes to art and separations (first time customer approvals and runs. Collects samples and evaluates print to curve reproduction)
8. Researches new mounting materials and technologies, as well as staying abreast of new pre-press and plate technologies such as emerging plate materials, screening technologies and software for pre-press and plate making technologies like HD and expanded gamut for color separations.
9. Coordinates testing of potential improvements with printing leadership and other appropriate departments
10. Updates Purchase Order/Remake Plate reports and PrePro system daily
11. Maintains an accurate inventory of all print sleeves and bridge carriers
12. Maintains documentation of Total Indicated Run-out (TIR)s of all print sleeves and bridge carriers in cooperation with the mounting department.
13. Serves as a back-up for Plate Inventory Clerk
14. Follows procedures as stated in the Good Manufacturing practices manual
15. Performs various cleaning and inspection duties to maintain AIB compliance
16. Reports any potential violations of GMP policies to the Team Leader
17. Other duties as assigned by the Team Leader
Qualifications
Skills, experiences and qualifications which are essential to the job.
5 years flexo experience
Computer literate. Must be proficient with common Microsoft Office programs.
Attention to detail
Ability to multitask
Additional desired qualifications, experience and skills:
Preferred, but not essential qualifications.
Prior leadership experience
Prior flexo plate making experience
Prior flexo plate mounting experience
Prior experience in pre-press or graphic arts related field or educational background in graphic arts.
Position expectations:
To work with various departments to ensure internal and external customer quality expectations are met.
To provide feedback and continual tracking of print execution relative to color space and proof match.
To maintain complete and accurate specifications for the printing operation
Working Conditions
Time split between plant and office. Typical manufacturing and production environment with exposure to noise and chemical odors and typical office environment. Overtime as required.
The following physical requirements are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:
Ability to stand for the duration of the shift (8-12 hours)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
