Salary Band: 28 DUTIES/
Responsibilities: Position reports to Engineer Interlocking Systems. Coordinate, administrate, and review submissions by signal vendors to ensure compliance with the BNSF, and AREMA standards Ensure that products add value to the BNSF signal system and workforce Track, tabulate, and archive data from lab and field tests of signal products Prepare and present written and oral reports of signal product test regimes and results to multiple levels of management Review, create, and analyze signal project layouts, field surveys and construction documents for opportunities to apply novel technical solutions, replace obsolete equipment, and facilitate greater signal system reliability Ensure new technical solutions meet BNSF, FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) and AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association) standards and recommended practices Provide technical assistance on signal circuitry and programming to outside engineering contractors, field maintenance/construction personnel and other engineering staff Identify, document, and analyze the root cause of technical faults based on logging data, symptoms described by field personnel, and manufacturer recommendations Keep departmental project tracking and scheduling databases up to date for assigned projects Review invoices for services rendered and prepare requests for payment against the appropriate projects Utilize departmental procurement systems to ensure experimental facilities are equipped with appropriate technology and components BASIC
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Requires 1-3 years of formal technical training in electricity/electronics Requires a working knowledge of safety circuit logic and a working knowledge of general engineering principles and practices including design, construction and maintenance Must have a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications as well as other productivity software Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint would be valuable Must have analytical ability, be innovative and resourceful and be able to communicate accurately on technical subjects Must either have, or be able to quickly acquire, computer aided technical drawing management expertise Must be able to work effectively and efficiently with all levels of BNSF management and personnel as a team dedicated to fulfilling corporate goals PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent RELOCATION: Relocation may be provided based on business need TRAVEL: Travel will be required to field locations across the BNSF system - up to 50% on a time basis
