Role Summary/Purpose
The Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist will provide expertise in an advisory capacity to the railroad. In this role you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day short-term objectives, and have the ability to resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Essential Responsibilities
In addition, you will:
Provide clear communication and technical guidance to railroad employees, management, GE employees, including; troubleshooting, material assistance, tooling and / or locomotive status, safety procedures, productivity and process improvements, and contract requirement clarification
Coordinate and provide instruction on key programs and procedures related to locomotive maintenance / modifications
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to create repair opportunities in the shop and to gain access to craftsman labor force
Train and monitor work activities for safe and efficient locomotive repairs
Work as part of a cross functional team, driving a one team focus, dedicated to customer success within the shop
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry / site specific work rules
Be responsible for all shift performance and execution, customer communications and issue resolution
Make risk assessments balancing customer requests with GE requirements
Work with various software systems to manage material, labor plans, and other systemic requirements
Work with customers externally and internally to identify new opportunities to improve our current processes as well as design and implement progressive management processes and systems based on LEAN and Six Sigma
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in a Technical discipline from an accredited college or university (or Associate's Degree in a Technical discipline with a minimum of 2 years of professional work experience, or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years experience in Services)
