Supervisory Equal Opportunity Specialist

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Serve as the principal advisor to the Regional Director with respect to the intake and assessment of complaints filed under the laws within the jurisdiction of the Fair Housing Regional Office. Carry out responsibilities under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and Equal Housing Opportunity pursuant to relevant Executive Orders. Supervise the intake, assessment, assignment, tracking and conciliation/resolution of complaints received under the following statutes:
Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination Act; and Equal Housing Opportunity pursuant to relevant Executive Orders or other relevant laws. Represent the Regional Director on fair housing and equal opportunity matters that fall under the Branch Chief's responsibilities, at various State and local conferences, symposia, workshops, meetings and other gatherings sponsored by Governors, Mayors, and various organizations and groups interested in equal opportunity. Experience:
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Analysis and application of fair housing laws and equal opportunity regulations such as the Fair Housing Act, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, Title VI Civil Rights of the 1964, Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act as it relates to housing, the Architectural Barriers Act of 1968, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act; AND -Experience in complaint processing, managerial techniques, human relations and technical assistance skills to effectively address a wide variety of employee, stakeholder, and client issues; AND -Experience requires working with and monitoring both the Fair Housing Initiative Program (FHIP); and the Fair Housing Assistance Program (FHAP); knowledge of testing methodologies; FHIP enforcement strategies and operations; and knowledge of FHAP adjudication, funding, monitoring and performance assessment processes. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
